Prior to permanent cessation of operations, all structures no longer required such as dams, diversions, <br />powerlines, roads and buildings will be removed and those areas permanently reclaimed. All salvage- <br />able road base and surface materials, concrete and asphalt will be disposed of by burial in one of the <br />final pits. All salvageable machinery and equipment will be removed from the mine area. Any unsal- <br />vageable machinery and equipment will be buried in one of the final pits. <br />Drill holes will be reclaimed in an appropriate manner (refer to Section 3.3). Excavations, trenches and <br />ditches will be removed by backfilling or grading or both. Heavily compacted areas will be scarified or <br />disced. Final pits will be filled in and the highwalls eliminated by using the spoil in the last few cuts for <br />backfilling the final cut. Usually this would involve the last four cuts. <br />All affected areas will be backfilled, graded, retopsoiled and revegetated. The result will be the perma- <br />nent reclamation of all affected areas. The specific type of permanent reclamation for a particular area <br />will be dependent upon the anticipated post mining land use for the particular area (refer to Section 4.2). <br />Because it is extremely unlikely that permanent cessation of operations will occur during the term of this <br />permit, the closure plans discussed are general. The permit for the term that will include the year 2014 <br />(the year it is expected that permanent cessation of operations will occur) will include a specific and <br />detailed closure plan. <br />• 3.1.8 Surface Minina Near Underground Mining <br />During the time period 1988 to 1991, Trapper Mining Inc. conducted mining activities within 500 horizon- <br />tal feet of the underground mine workings of Eagle No. 5 Mine, controlled by Empire Energy Corporation. <br />These underground workings, shown on Map M-8, C Pit Blasting Plan, are mostly abandoned room and <br />pillar mining areas for which an estimated 85% extraction was accomplished. <br />During the remainder of Trapper Mine's operation, no surface mining operations will be affecting the <br />underground activities. <br />/h ?7fiA»?i ?G?GPif? _ <br />3-18 !SivrJ r.r,= <br />/? <br />71
