A line of springs is visible on the west of side of the pit. I bring this to your attention not only because
the pit may be affecting the hydrologic balance in the area but also because the mining plan shows an
eventual mine entrance to the west of the pit at an elevation of 8100 feet ". This entrance is lower than
the spring elevation of 8120 on that slope "'.
r
•
The Mining Application states that "the slopes will be graded to maintain the present site drainage
patterns " ". "At this time the property slopes to the south and south west".' This is incorrect as the
south easterly portion of the parcel drains to the south and southeast. "There is little run off from the
site now but once mining is complete the floor will slope to the southwest so drainage would enter the
wetland area if run off occurs. "" This statement clearly contradicts the statement that present drainage
patterns will be maintained.
