A summary of the analytical results obtained from the LTF monthly and quarterly sampling from <br />2007 to 2014 is shown in Table 7. The sample identified as Tailing Pond is a grab sample collected <br />directly from the free water pool at the LTF. The Collection Ditch sample is a grab sample <br />collected from the LTF collection ditch and is primarily comprised of water exiting the LTF <br />through the underdrain piping system. The Leak Detection sample is collected from the LTF <br />collection pond leak detection pipe system. The Collection Ditch samples are believed to be the <br />most representative of the water contained within the LTF which would impact groundwater in the <br />event of leakage from the LTF. <br />In contrast to the water quality data from the LTF, there have been no concentrations of arsenic <br />(dissolved), WAD cyanide, or zinc (dissolved) reported above the analytical reporting limits in <br />samples collected at well M -14 during the Response Plan. Calcium and sodium are present in the <br />Tailings Pond, Collection Ditch, and Leak Detection samples collected during the time frame of <br />the Response Plan at much higher concentrations than those found in well M -14. As shown in <br />Table 7, Figure 12 and Figure 13, the average concentrations of both calcium and sodium in the <br />Tailing Pond and Collection Ditch samples are significantly higher than the concentrations found <br />in well M -14 during the Response Plan. <br />Based upon the chemical characteristics of sulfate, it was identified as another compound which <br />would be contained in the LTF at concentrations which would make it a good indicator of potential <br />mixing of LTF and M -14 waters. Sulfate is not a target analyte of the LTF monitoring system, <br />however, it was thought to be at higher levels in the LTF. During the Response Plan, two samples <br />were collected from the Collection Ditch and analyzed at the onsite laboratory for sulfate. The <br />sulfate concentrations found in the two samples were 3700 mg/L and 3800 mg/L. Sulfate <br />concentrations in well M -14 during the Response Plan were less than 25 mg/L. The lack of a <br />significant increase in the sodium and sulfate concentrations and the absence of other analytes in <br />well M -14 indicates that there has been no detectable mixing of LTF and well M -14 waters. <br />TR -32 M -14 TDS Response Plan Report AES, Inc. <br />Battle Mountain Resources — San Luis, CO 12 January 2015 (Update) <br />
