Technical Revision Cover Sheet
2. Check for $216
Adams County
Arapahoe County
Aurora, CO
Brighton, CO
Commerce City, CO
Douglas County
Parker, CO
Thornton, CO
I'd like to confirm that we plan to make the following minor change to our proposed reclamation
effort; we intend to use scrapers to transport the inert fill material from the Brannan pit across
our access road to the Sandy Acres Lake (formerly Henderson Development). This is a change
from our technical amendment application which planned on using a conveyor belt system
through a concrete box culvert under the road.
There are two main reasons for the change:
a. Time: The scraper haul operation should take around four to five months compared to an
estimated year for the conveyor belt system. This means that the lake will be filled in
sooner which in turn means that the evaporative losses from the lake will cease earlier.
b. Financial: The cost of the scraper haul is significantly less than the cost of the conveyor
belt option. We received bids late last year for the conveyor belt system and all four bids
were well above our budget for the project.
Traffic control on our access ramp (formerly Nome Street) will be by temporary traffic signals.
The contractor will have personnel on site to manually operate the signals and ensure traffic
flows in a safe and efficient manner. The time our traffic will be stopped by the scraper haul will
be limited to a maximum of two minutes.
Please call Neil Thomson at (303) 537 -3712 if you need more information or have questions
about the application. Alternatively, I'd be happy to come to your offices to meet and discuss the
application.
Sincerely,
Neil G. Th mson P.E.
Director of Engineering and Roadway Maintenance
E -470 Public Highway Authority
