The slit trench will then be backfilled, graded and seeded with the approved
seed mix. A 3/4 inch diameter steel pipe marker will then be installed in the
hole to mark the site.
Location of drill holes /wells: A list of holes /wells is shown below that were
surveyed during a field reconnaissance (June -July 2014) of drill holes /wells
that are scheduled to be sealed and reclaimed during the summer season of
2014. The location coordinates of these holes are included in the list
showing the latitude /longitude (NAD83 grid system) and the coordinates for
the Southfield Mine Grid System.

When mining is completed, the mine portals will be sealed to prevent
access. Sealing will involve fabrication of concrete block walls located a
minimum of 25 feet inby the portal openings. The outside surface of the
block walls will be sealed with an MSHA approved sealant to prevent
seepage of surface or groundwater through the seal and the block walls will
be keyed into mine openings. The void between the block barriers and the
portals will be backfilled with rammed compacted overburden material. An
expanded discussion of closure and reclamation plans is presented in Section
2.05.4, Reclamation Plan.
