. 1
i
be accessed from either existing or new mine portals. As additional, information which
may affect the Southfield Permit is obtained and verified, EFCI will work closely with the
MLRD to evaluate and address future permitting requirements and scheduling.
r
Southfield's total permit area encompasses approximately 2,735.2 acres. This total
includes approximately 2,713.3 acres in the mine area and 21.9 acres in the loadout area.
The original permit application submitted by Dorchester in 1981 was for a permit area of
approximately 1,400 acres. The total permit area increased approximately
190 acres as a •result of three incidental boundary revisions submitted during the
period form 1986 through 1989. These revisions are presented in exhibit 15, Minor and
Technical Revisions, an additional 1,232 acres were added to the permit area
as a result of permit revision PR -01 and several small incidental boundary revisions
subsequent to late 1990. Modification of the maximum subsidence angle of draw in
early 1994 and associated changes in the permit boundaries resulted in a net reduction
in the permit area of approximately 86 acres.
It should be noted that while the total permit area has increased significantly, the
surface disturbance area has remained essentially the same at approximately 106.8
acres. Of this total, the mine disturbance area accounts for approximately 91.4 acres
with the remaining 15.4 acres of disturbance in the loadout area.
2.05 -8
Revised 3/4/15 MR -66
N
