TRAPP21 MINING inc.
April 15, 2015
CERTIFIED
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
Water Quality Control Division
WQCD -P -B2
4300 Cherry Creek Dr. South
Denver, CO 80246 -1530
tJO
Subject:°. . First Quarter 2015 Colorado Wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports . i.'
Permit No. CO- 0032115 ;
To Whom It May Concern:
a.
Enclosed are Trapper Mine's First Quarter 2014 Colorado Wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports for the period
01/1/15- 03/31/15. During this quarter, four NPDES outfalls were active. Outfalls 001 and 002 discharged routinely
throughout the quarter. Outfalls 011 and 020 discharged in response to spring snowmelt occurring in February and
March. Outfalls 008, 009, 017, 018, 019, 021, 022, 023 and 024 did not discharge during the quarter. Values
reported on the enclosed DMRs represent the maximum (or minimum as applicable) monthly /daily values generated
at each outfall during the quarter.
The TDS is reportable on a quarterly basis per our permit. The TDS values are as follows for each active outfall:
001
002
Oil
020
3380 mg/L
2010 mg/L
3020 mg/L
1580 mg/L
Also enclosed are monthly NOAA weather summaries for the reporting period. The enclosed NOAA weather
summary reports show the temperatures and precipitation measurements for the period mentioned. Daily
precipitation measurements are recorded at 7:00 a.m. as well as daily maximum and minimum temperatures from the
previous 24 hours.
One exceedance of the primary effluent limitations occurred at an outfall during the quarter. A value of 40 mg/L for
Total Suspended Solids and 1350 ug/L for Total Iron was reported. Warming temps and residual snowpack in this
watershed created a spring snowmelt event at this outfall. This exceedence is applicable for the alternative
reporting limits based on Settleable Solids. Settleable Solids were reported at <0.1 mg/L for this sample date at
outfall 002 and would not be a violation of the NPDES discharge permit. On the day of sampling, it appeared the
warm afternoon and snowmelt was running directly down the access road to the pond and discharging into the pond
near the spillway area. A plume of discolored water was present at this inflow spot, in an otherwise clean pond.
Other ponds sampled on that date were in compliance. This exceedance appeared to be related to the localized snow
melt around the pond.
Trapper is required to maintain sediment levels in ponds at or below 60% of the pond volume. All outfalls have
been properly maintained and no ponds exceeded the 60% threshold for sediment accumulation.
P.O. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (970) 824 -4401
