EXHIBIT D
BURGESS PIT
RECLAMATION PLAN
(REVISED MARCH 26, 2015)
The current use of the affected land is rangeland and the reclamation plan will
return them to this use over time. A reclamation plan was obtained from the
Natural Resources Conservation Service (see attachments) and will be followed.
Reclamation of the pit will begin as soon as possible after the gravel has been
mined out if the closure coincides with the proper seeding seasons furnished by the
NRCS. If weather conditions (dry weather or drought conditions) preclude the
application of the permanent seed mix then a temporary seed will be applied to
prevent erosion of the pit slopes. This mixture was furnished by the MRCS and is
also used to seed any topsoil and overburden stockpiles to prevent erosion. A copy
of this temporary mixture is also attached.
The sequence of each reclamation phase, will be as follows:
1. Final grading (all slopes 3:1 or flatter) 3 to 4 days
2. Placement of overburden (1 to 2 feet) 2 to 3 days_
3, Replacement of topsoil (4 to 6 inches) 1 to 3 days
4. Discing and fertilizing (as required) 1 day
5. Seeding 1 to 2 days
6. Mulching and crimping 1 to 2 days.
The area to be reclaimed will be worked by dozers, front -end loaders or motor
graders to achieve the required final slopes. Rippers will be used to break: up any
compaction caused by the equipment and to seat the topsoil. The topsoil will be
placed using the same equipment. The topsoil will then be disced to a depth of four
inches to incorporate the fertilizer and prepare the seedbed. The seed will then be
drilled. Weed free mulch will be applied at the rate of 2 ton per acre and will be
crimped. The seeding will only be done during the season recommended by the N.
C. R S. The former haul road leaving the site near the Southwest corner was
abandoned by the County shortly after it was built at the request of the landowner.
The crossing does remain, also at the request of the landowner, and will not be
reclaimed. The haul road designated for county use is the existing ranch road that
exits the pit near the Northwest corner (see map). .
A small gravel stockpile may remain at the request of the landowner. If the
landowner has removed this stockpile, the area that it occupies will be reclaimed as
well.
