COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
April 13, 2014
William A. Bear
Bowie Resources, LLC
P.O. Box 483
Paonia, CO 81428
RE: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C- 1996 -083)
2013 Annual Hydrology Report Review
Dear Mr. Bear,
The Division has completed its review of the above referenced report received on 13 May 2014
via email. The Division finds the 2013 Annual Hydrology Report in compliance of the
requirments identified in the attached memo. The report fulfills the 2013 requirement to file
an annual hydrology report. The Division has the following comments:
1. Data is presented in tabular form for all monitoring points, and in graphic form for
several of the monitoring points. In future reports it would be beneficial to organize
the data graphically for all monitoring points.
2. It would be beneficial if BRL would plot the upstream and downstream data for each
surface water site on one graph, to better illustrate the downstream trends.
3. Inclusion of baseline data for all of the ponds enables the Division to easily compare
current conditions with baseline. Some of the ponds include baseline data, but several
do not (Figures 174 -181 do not). Please include baseline data for all ponds in future
reports
4. It would be beneficial, in the graphical information for the monitoring sites, to include
a point along the sample date axis indicating the changeover from baseline to
operational data.
Please give further attention to the following items:
1. Figure No. 81, B- Gulch -lo, includes lab data for a June 17, 2013 monitoring event, but
the corresponding field data indicates "No Flow." Please provide clarification on the
discrepancy.
OF Cp`0
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us I
John W.
