Section 2. Backfilling and grading <br />As described earlier in Exhibit D, the post -mine landscape depends upon how much sand and gravel can <br />be sold from the site. If large amounts can be sold, the limiting factor for the reclaimed area will be the <br />required 311:1 V slope. If little material can be sold, then it likely that the pre -mine landscape will be <br />primarily restored, except that old hydraulicking steep slopes will be made to be 311:1 V. This is the <br />more likely scenario, and for that reason, the post -mine land use shows a significant area restored to <br />commercial use along Highway 9. <br />Care will be taken in the regrading to minimize erosion using ditches, gravel berms and catch basins for <br />runoff, as needed, to ensure that there is no discharge from the site. . <br />Section 3. Topsoiling <br />Since a portion of the area was disturbed pre -law and no topsoil was salvaged, it may not be possible to <br />place 6 inches back on the entire disturbed area. All wildlife habitat areas will receive approximately 6 <br />inches of topsoil from new stripping of virgin soil. As much as is reasonably possible, fines from the <br />Settling Pond will be placed on top of the backfill as a subsoil before the topsoil is placed, to provide a <br />greater thickness as a plant growth medium. It is planned to place subsoil and some topsoil on the <br />commercial areas but due to the pre -law areas, it may not be possible to achieve 6 inches depth in these <br />areas. All topsoil on the property will be stockpiled for reclamation purposes and these stockpiles are <br />shown on Map C -2. <br />Section 4.
