INTRODUCTION
The Sullivan Aggregate Pit site is located immediately northwest of the town of Fairplay in Park County
and was initially mined for placer gold by many different methods dating back to the 1860's. Sluicing,
hydraulicking, and other methods were employed over many decades. All of this old mining was done
without any salvage of topsoil and without any regard to reclamation of the site. For decades, the site lay
dormant. In 2003, the 10 Acres on the west side of the river was purchased by JRS Mining LLC. In
2006, the 17 acre piece of adjoining property was purchased. In 2010, fifty percent interest in the 40 acre
Rock N Pine property was purchased and in 2011, the 20 acres adjoining the Rock N Pine property to
the North; resulting in total 87 Acres zoned mining.
In 2014, JRS Mining LLC received a 110 Permit (M- 2013 -074) to mine and sell gravel from the site
utilizing many of the piles that were left by the old placer operations. Placer gold was also produced
from some of the gravels on site.
The 112 Permit of 2015 was undertaken to include a larger portion of the property in the mining area,
add room for the water storage ponds into the permit area which get water from the Westerman Ditch for
the 2 cfs mining water rights owned by Todd Sullivan of JRS Mining LLC. This water right is used in
the mining operation.
JRS Mining intends to sluice gravels for gold and then screen and sort materials including rocks and
gravel for use in the development of adjoining property, internal use and commercial sales. Rock, sand
& gravel sales will take place over the life of the mine.
Sullivan Aggregate Pit March 2015 iii
