§4.03 Roads
(c) Widths.
(i) The train loadout haul roads are existing structures and about
20 feet in width. If any further disturbance for construction of
these haul roads is required, temporary erosion control
measures will be implemented during construction to minimize
sedimentation and erosion until permanent control measures
are established.
(d) Road cuts.
(i) The train loadout haul roads were designed and constructed
using accepted engineering practice. Fill slopes for the haul
roads are 2h:1 v or flatter. Road cuts are 1.5h:1 v or flatter.
(e) Road Embankments
(i) It is believed all vegetation material and topsoil were removed
from the design road bed, shoulders, and surfaces where
associated structures were placed. No vegetation material or
topsoil was placed beneath or in any haul road embankment.
(ii) Not applicable.
(iii) It is believed material for embankments was reasonably free of
organic material or any material considered unsuitable for use
in embankment construction.
(iv) It is believed no acid producing material was used in the
construction of the truck scale haul road embankments.
(v) The train loadout haul road embankment material comes from
cut colluvium. Actual layer thicknesses before compaction are
unknown. Constant use of the road since 1976 demonstrates
the stability and reliability of the road embankments as
constructed.
TR-20 4.03 - 3 3/01
