PERMIT #: PF.Id
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TC1
INSPECTION DATE: August 7, 2014
OBSERVATIONS
This was a follow -up regular monitoring program inspection to assess compliance with the approved Notice of
Intent (NOI) prospecting permit. Mr. Al Dowdy was present for the inspection as the Prospector. The Division
attempted to meet Mr. Dowdy on June 24, 2014 for an inspection, but a communication problem prevented
the Division and Mr. Dowdy meeting each other. The Sunrise claim is on Mineral Hill, approximately 1 mile
north of Cripple Creek in Teller County.
Inspection:
The site consists of a historic working (see Photo 1) which Mr. Dowdy pointed out. He then provided verbal
directions to the four corners of the Sunrise Claim. The claim is on a hill that is well forested and thereby
difficult to see one survey marker from another. The Division recorded GPS coordinates using a Trimble Juno
3b for all locatable Sunrise Claim (Mineral Survey No. 8233) survey markers (see Photos 2 and 3) in order to
determine the claim boundaries. A map is included as Figure 1.
Mr. Dowdy indicated he has worked the site very little. The majority of his efforts have been concentrated on
the nearby Buckeye Claim (P- 1993 -013) which the Division was able to locate and inspect on June 24, 2014.
No noxious weeds were observed. No stormwater retention was observed.
Records:
• The maximum allowed disturbance is 1.0 acre.
• Revisions: none
• This was the first inspection of this site.
• The anniversary date is August 15. The Annual fees and map are current through 2014. However, the
Division did not receive an annual report for 2014. This is cited as a problem on page one of this
report. A blank copy of the annual report form is attached for your convenience.
• The approved N01 involves trenching - —30 ft wide x 150 ft long x 18 ft deep with 2H:1V side slopes. No
new roads are proposed. The N01 application notes a pre- existing 30 -ft wide trench —125 feet from the
east end of the claim, running in a north -south direction. Reclamation activities to backfill, topsoil, and
revegetate trench sites.
Current Stipulations:
None.
Bond:
The currently held bond is $2,000. This bond is deemed adequate.
Summary & Recommendations:
1. The observed level of activity appears consistent the approved N01.
2. Please complete and submit the attached annual report form by the Corrective Action Due Date.
