As we have
explained in the past, the Einspahrs changed their mind about allowing Brannan to use their
property for the French drain, which required us to re- configure the drain as described in our
earlier submittal. That, together with our discussions with the landowner of Pit 29 and the
landowner of the Stagecoach Pit, has resulted in a design that shifts the drain to the north on the
Pit 29 property, followed by a crossing under Brighton Road and a continuation of the drain to
the west along the northern boundary of the Stagecoach Pit property. The drain is designed to
collect ground water on the east side of Brighton Road and release that ground water into the
alluvium on the west side of Brighton Road.
With this design change in mind, I will respond to the numbered items in your adequacy review
in this letter. Attached is the First Amendment to AM -02. Where applicable, revisions requested
in the Adequacy Review are part of the First Amendment and are noted.
1) The revised Application Form is attached.
2) The permit area north of 132nd Avenue has been added. See First Amendment.
3) See First Amendment.
4) Please see Exhibit E. As noted above, the drain is not designed to drain to the river. We
believe it is sufficient, and preferable, to redirect the ground water back to the alluvium
rather than discharge to the river. We propose to install a knockout in the event the drain,
as designed, is not effective.
5) Plan and profile view of the French drain is shown on Exhibit E.
6) The flow in the pipe is calculated at 2.5 cfs. See attached output "Open Channel Pipe
Flow ".
7) We propose to perform a TV survey once per 5 years. The need and type clean out will
be based on the results of that survey.
7405 W.
