Box 1430
Palisade, CO 81526
Re: Roadside Mine (Permit No. C- 1981 -041)
2013 Annual Reclamation Report Review
Dear Ms. Hammond:
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (Division) has completed its review of the 2013 Annual
Reclamation Report (ARR) for the Snowcap Coal Company's (SCC) Roadside North and South Mines. The
annual report was received by the Division on February 11, 2014 with the standardized report forms, narrative,
detailed reclamation map, seed tag documentation and 2013 Revegetation Monitoring Evaluation.
During 2013, there were zero acres of new disturbance. Pond 9 was fully reclaimed this calendar year
accounting for 0.4 acres backfilled and graded, 0.4 topsoiled and .04 acres seeded.
SCC also submitted a Revegetation Monitoring Evaluation Report which was conducted by Cedar Creek
Associates in 2013. The report evaluated the vegetation progress on the CRDA 91 Road and Top and
Substation G. Both areas were in their fourth growing season. Cedar Creek concluded and recommended that
both areas receive supplemental seeding of perennial grasses and shrub species to improve cover and diversity
of warm- season grasses.
The Division does not have any questions or comments for the 2013 Roadside Mine ARR.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at (303) 866 -3567 ext 8142.
Sincerely,
AWA--)L
Brock Bowles
Environmental Protection Specialist
brock.bowles@state.co.us
cc:
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us
John W.
