The NS 2014 Mine Plan Modification is currently under an
environmental assessment and review by the BLM.
To reach this new production goal NS will build an additional facility that will expand
the current mine plant footprint by approximately 90,000 square feet. This new
facility will include a new process building (approximately 150 x 115 feet), a new
packaging and warehouse building (approximately 265 x 225 feet), and a new dry
handling, screening and storage building (approximately 190 x 80 feet). The height
of the new facility is expected to average 50 feet. The warehouse facility will have a
load -out arm with paved truck access. A paved parking lot (approximately 133 x 182
feet) will also be built to the south of the existing plant. New cooling towers and
boilers will be installed adjacent to the existing plant on existing disturbance. Plant
expansion will increase the current disturbance associated with existing
manufacturing facilities by approximately 8 acres. Also, a new treatment pond
totaling approximately 7 acres will be built. Access roads (15 feet wide) and top soil
piles may add an additional disturbance of approximately 4 acres. The attached
figure shows the conceptualized processing plant expansion areas.
On October 1, 2014, Sodium Lease C00011998601 was modified by the BLM to
include additional land: Sec. 35, Lots 1-4, inclusive, T.1S., R.98W., 6th Principle
Meridian, Colorado containing 156.340 acres (more or less). Please note that the
2014 MPM was submitted before the lease modification and does not reflect this
new addition, but will soon be updated.
SPECIALIZING IN PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, HYDROLOGICAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND PERMITTING SERVICES
