SEDIMENTATION POND SURVEYS PSCM is required by Permit to periodically monitor sedimentation ponds for sediment storage capacities. Monitoring provides a sediment yield history and gives advance warning to operations personnel when sediment clean -out work is required. Past data has shown reduced sedimentation as revegetation has progressed. The surveys from 2006 show capacities that are more than adequate. Because surface mined areas have been reclaimed and have been revegetated for several years, the capacities aren't expected to significantly change. Additionally, Pond 002 is buffered by the lower sediment pond from newly disturbed areas associated with the underground mine. In accordance with Rule 4.05.9(14), each pond is inspected annually by a qualified professional specialist under the direction of a professional engineer or a qualified registered professional engineer. The submitted reports will comply with all requirements of Rule 4.05.9(15). Ponds are also visually inspected quarterly by mine personnel. During these inspections, any drastic change in sedimentation storage or sudden increase in a sediment delta at the inlet to the pond would be detected which could require mitigation. To ensure adequate capacities, and taking into consideration the level of revegetation of previously surface mined surveys, PSCM has committed to capacity surveys every 10 years beginning in 2016. No new stock tanks /ponds were constructed during the 2014 season. WILDLIFE MONITORING Wildlife monitoring was conducted in cooperation with CPW during 2014. The work included: • Monitoring of Golden Eagle nest sites. — A total of 6 sites were identified for monitoring as part of the original permit approval. Three were believed to have been destroyed by natural causes. The remaining three nests were monitored. All were inactive during 2014. • Monitoring four (4) known Columbian sharp- tailed grouse leks and checking for new ones 2014 ARR
