Annual Report — 2014
Henderson Mine and Mill Reclamation Activities
Permit No. M- 1977 -342
Viewpoint (imazapyr and aminocyclopyrachlor) was applied to parking areas, substations, building
perimeters and fence lines for ground sterilization and Rodeo (glyphosate) was added to eliminate all
existing vegetation.
In total, approximately 145 acres were sprayed in and around the Henderson Mine, URAD Mine and
county road right -of -ways.
1. 4.2 — Water Quality Data
Water quality data will be provided in the Annual Water Quality Data Report, due to the DRMS, per the
approved Groundwater Management Plan (TR -16).
2.0 Henderson Mill
2.1 Disturbance
Approximately 6 acres were disturbed in 2014. This is primarily attributed to the continued rise of the
tailing impoundment. Disturbance from ongoing activities associated with topsoil salvage and gravel pit
operations have been accounted for in previous years, however no new disturbance occurred in 2014.
2.2 Interim Reclamation
Interim stabilization efforts included the salvage of 338,150 cubic yards of topsoil/growth media from
inundation areas along the upstream side of the tailing impoundment. The material was placed in the
North and Ranger Gulch stockpiles, which is situated on the northern end of the impoundment.
Routine maintenance of erosion and sediment control structures was carried out in 2014.
2.3 Other Activities
2.3.1— Weed Control
For 2014, Henderson Mill received weed treatments in June and August totaling 450 acres. The two
treatments covered the following areas: around all shops and mill parking lots, roadsides around the
tailing pond, the northern non - industrial areas, the haul roads, the upper canal road, on and below the
dam, and the portal.
These areas were treated for the following noxious weeds: Houndstongue, Canada Thistle, Musk Thistle,
Yellow Toadflax, Mayweed Chamomile and Oxeye Daisy.
The herbicides used for treatement include: Weedestroy (2,4 -D Amine), Habitata (imazapyr), Tordon 22k
(picloram), Viewpoint (imazapyr and aminocyclopayrachlor), Roundup Pro (glyphosphate), MSO
(methylated oil surfactant), Induce (nonionic surfactant), and Blue Hi -Lite indicator dye.
Additionally, all fuel storage locations (gasoline, diesel and propane) were treated with Roundup Pro (soil
sterilizers to prevent any vegetative growth).
2.3.2 — Water Quality Data
Water quality data will be provided in the Annual Water Quality Report, per the approved Groundwater
Management Plan (TR -16).
Page 2
