Discussion of Results: Trend Evaluation of Groundwater Data
The analytical results for all groundwater sites were evaluated for trends for all parameters
that were analyzed. In groundwater monitoring locations with long histories of data
collection (2+ years) the most recent data was appended to the period of record data for
each site and trends were evaluated. For 2014, no wells showed significant increasing
trends in groundwater concentration. The increasing trends observed in wells EVMW -1 S,
EVMW -1 D and EV -MW -004 in 2013 were thoroughly investigated as part of a study of
groundwater below the Robinson Lake Seep Pump Station. Based on the results of the
investigation, documented in a report submitted to DRMS on November 18th, 2014, the
overall water quality has improved and trends have shown a decline in all constituents of
concern in these wells. In a letter from DRMS dated November 21 st, 2014, DRMS agreed
with the findings of the investigation and approved Climax's request to return to quarterly
monitoring at these sites.
Discussion of Results: Outlier Identification
The 2014 groundwater and surface water data also were analyzed for outliers, of which one
data point was found. The third quarter result for total dissolved solids at EI -SW1 was
reported as 2,790 mg /L, which is about 10 to 20 times higher than normal. Based on
consultation with the lab there was no documentation of a dilution or calculation error, but
when compared to the sum of all dissolved constituents (alkalinity, chloride, sulfate,
calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium summing to 227.7 mg /L) it was clear that the
result was an outlier and has been qualified as such and is maintained in the monitoring
database in accordance with the WQMP. Results at EI -SW1, both before and after, the
third quarter were within the normal range.
0)
