-too lr4- mI19QIg3
Applegate
Group, Inc.
February 19, 2015
Mr. Tyler O'Donnell
Environmental Protection Specialist
1313 Sherman St., Rm 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Brannan Sand and Gravel Pit 29
Water Level Measurements (2.10.15)
Dear Tyler:
RECEIVED
FEB 2 12015
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
In an effort to determine the relationship of the residual ponding on the Einspahr Property and the
ground water, personnel of Applegate Group measured the water levels in three alluvial wells and
three areas of ponding. The water levels were measured on February 10, 2015. The measurements
were taken after Brannan Sand and Gravel potholed the property in its efforts to eliminate observed
ponding on the Einspahr Property.
There are two shallow wells on the Einspahr Property (see attached Figure 1). The west well is in a
pump house near the Einspahr residence. The east well is located next to the pasture and MW -4 is
located on the Brannan property. According to Mr. Einspahr the west well is used in the summer for
irrigation of his lawn. The east well has not been pumped for "years ".
Three areas of residual ponding were located as shown on Figure 1. These ponded areas are much
smaller than the ponding in the past. The West Pond was approximately 10 feet in diameter. The
South Pond was about 10 feet wide by 40 feet long and the East Pond was approximately 30 feet in
diameter.
The water levels at these three ponds were correlated to the elevation of the ground water level at
MW -4. It is important to note that we did not correlate the water levels to a mean sea level elevation
benchmark as was done in a previous survey. Therefore the water levels are relative to each other.
The benchmark is 0.00 for the water level in MW -4. I am also providing a separate relative
comparison of the East Well water level to the East Pond and South Pond water levels. The
following table and attached Figure 1 show the water levels.
1499 W. 1201h Avenue, Suite 200 118 W. 6'h Street, Suite 100
Denver, CO 80234 Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
303 - 452 -6611
www.applegategroup.com
