The release includes 29.4 acres
of completed reclamation related to the east and west portals surface disturbance.
We have determined that the lands included in the bond release area were federally and privately
owned while the coal mined there was federally owned. The reclaimed federal lands covered in
the request are managed by the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office and comprise approximately 2.2
acres just inside the southeast portion of federal lease COD042921 which was relinquished and
case closed in April 1992. We are aware that the site was reclaimed under a permit
revocation/bond - revoked status. In addition, the reclamation appears to be properly carried out
and completed as reported.
If the affected private surface owners are satisfied with the reclamation completed, then the BLM
has no objection to the full release of reclamation liability and CDRMS termination of
jurisdiction. If you have any questions please contact Desty Dyer at 970 - 240 -5302.
Sincerely,
Barbara Sharrow
Field Office Manager
CC: Howard Strand, OSMRE -WR
