Weather conditions were clear with the temperature around
fifty degrees fahrenheit and ground conditions were dry. The mine permit was revoked and the bond forfeited in
1994. The Fruita Mine site is fully reclaimed and there was no activity at the mine site at the time of the
inspection.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
This is a bond forfeiture site and all applicable records are maintained by the Division.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14
Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f);
Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
The backfilled and regraded haul road remains stable. Pitting and roughening was used as part of the reclamation
grading process. Pitting has been effecting in prevent erosion and establishing vegetation along the haul road.
The backfilled portals remain stable with no issues observed. Erosion has been observed above the portals along
an upper sandstone bench which is adding sediment deposition in the area. This erosion is not mine related and
due to natural precipitation events and /or runoff from snow melt.
The regraded slope below the portals was inspected. No sloughing or instability was observed.
