In fact this new
home and lot are directly next door to the proposed new gravel pit, asphalt plant and concrete production
facilities known as Kirkland Highway 9 Gravel Pit and I have major environmental and safety concerns with this
application and am in opposition of the proposed 111 Permit Application filed for this project.
Specifically, I understand that the soils report refers to the presence of ground water near the shale layer and I
am concerned as to how any potential contamination will affect the ground water.
Secondly, we are on well and septic system and have major concerns with the potential leakage of fuel, oils and
greases into the water aquifers that our systems rely on. My well hit water at only approx. 120', possibly through
the same layer of shale as the proposed Pit and related production operations next door.
Thirdly, we are also concerned that this application allows the applicant to wash aggregate which will include
fines and silts which also have the potential of leaching and affecting our wells and septic systems.
Lastly, I am concerned about the general safety for our families and our quality of life with this proposed
operation permitted to operate as located.
Attached are several photos ... a video of the site, an aerial map showing the site in relation to my home and Blue
Valley Acres and the Blue River, and a photo from the deck of my house showing the proposed site.
