Additional Items to be added to TR -05
Waste Oil Holding Facili
The waste oil holding facility will be a 20' x 8' x 9' metal sea -can to be located outside
underground shops for waste oil storage, which is shown on Map C -2. The sea -can will be lined
with an impermeable liner suitable for oil containment and will contain 110% of the full storage
capacity. The sea -can can hold a maximum of 1000 cubic feet in chemical storage totes and the
containment will hold a minimum of 1584 cubic feet. The totes are heavy plastic containers of
approximately 240 gallons with metal reinforcing on all sides. The waste oil will be
temporarily stored in the totes inside the container until an approved waste oil transportation
company arrives on site to pump out the waste oil and remove it from site. The sea -can will be
removed during reclamation since it is portable. No slab or foundation is required and no extra
bond cost is needed since the sea can is portable.
Portal Heater
A 4.5 million BTU portal heater will be installed immediately above the Revenue portal to
provide heat to the immediate area inby the portal during very cold periods. The heater will be in
a metal housing that is 3 8 ft 2" long with a 45 inch axial fan integral in the tube to push the
heated air into the portal at the rate of approximately 75,000 cfm. The heater will only be
effective for a few hundred feet into the portal but this is all that is needed. It will be attached
directly to the side of the portal set structure via a custom duct manifold.
The heater will be removed for reclamation. A refurbished pneumatic air /fire door will be
installed at the portal entrance so that all heated air is forced underground. In addition, a passive,
fresh air intake "snorkel" will be constructed and installed on the top of the portal set arch to
allow additional fresh air to mix with heated air.
For worst case reclamation, the fan can be pushed into the portal prior to sealing so there is no
real addition to the reclamation bond cost. Of course this would not occur when the mine is
