The
mining and reclamation plans described herein have been designed to effect
compliance with coal regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Board and Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Article 33 of
Title 34, as amended, Colorado Revised Statues of 1973.
The operation and reclamation plans presented in this section have been
developed to reflect and address site specific conditions at the
Southfield Mine. As applicable to discussion of operation and reclamation
• plans, environmental baseline information presented in Section 2.04,
Environmental Resources, is referenced.
2.05.2 OPERATION PLAN - ESTIMATED AREA FOR LIFE OF OPERATION
EFCI has conducted underground mining, coal processing, and related
operations at the Southfield Mine and loadout since their purchase from
Dorchester in March, 1985. Over this period of time, EFCI has gained
valuable experience relative to the most practical and effective
techniques for mining and reclamation operations at these sites.
In order to maintain efficient and competitive operations, EFCI
continually reviews existing plans and evaluates mining and reclamation
operations relative to the latest information and mining technology
available. As a result of recently acquired exploration information and
review of ongoing operations, EFCI. has identified several significant
changes to be made in existing mining and reclamation plans in order to
. provide for effective future mining operations, maintain operational
efficiency, minimize costs, and provide for successful reclamation of
disturbance areas.
2.05-1
