C. In addition to the native grass mix, a cover, nurse crop of winter wheat, oats or <br />other small grain shall be lightly applied to steep slopes only at a rate of approximately 25 -30 <br />lbs /acre to help control erosion. <br />D. Mulching with certified weed -free straw or hay shall be applied uniformly at <br />approximately two tons per acre to help capture water and protect both seeds and seedlings. <br />E. The mulch shall be crimped using tracks of bulldozer or other machine to help <br />secure mulch against wind and water run -off. <br />V. Noxious Weed Control. <br />A. Best efforts shall be used to prevent introduction for weed seed or other stock. <br />Prior to commencing work in any calendar year, all equipment and machinery entering the <br />Subject Site shall be thoroughly washed and cleaned of any dirt or residual material from <br />previous jobs. If not washed before entering the Subject Site, equipment and machinery shall be <br />washed at a designated spot in the existing gravel pit before commencing work at the new <br />aggregate site. <br />B. In addition, careful attention shall be paid to properly establish native vegetation <br />to help to out - compete any noxious week invasion. <br />C. Chemical weed control measures shall be implemented as follow -up monitoring <br />identifies weed infestations. An ATV or back -pack sprayer shall be used to apply appropriate <br />herbicides and any necessary surfactants. <br />1. For most perennial weeks, a fall application of Milestone, or comparable broad- <br />leaf herbicide is preferred. <br />2. For early Spring application to treat white -top, Escort is preferred. <br />3. Application of restricted use pesticides, such as Tordon, may be used as long as <br />treatments are performed by a commercially licensed applicator. <br />4. All stockpiles of topsoil or other materials that will be used for final cover shall <br />be treated for noxious weeds while processing is occurring. <br />VI. Follow -up Monitoring and Five -Year Plan. <br />A. At least three permanent photo points shall be established surrounding the <br />affected area, with photos taken during processing, after reclamation, and every year following <br />for five years. <br />B. Periodic inspections over a period of five years will be conducted by <br />representatives of the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety accompanied by <br />Galloway SG and /or BVR to: <br />23 <br />
