STORMWATER QUALITY / EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS
Stormwater runoff and erosion is controlled at this quarry through rock berms and diversion dikes to
minimize runoff velocities and contain potential sediment transport from the site. The majority of the
site is vegetated, including the outfall ditches and offsite drainage channels. There is no indication of
downstream degradation. Figure 1 indicates the success of runoff control as evidenced by the lack of
sediment deposits on the adjoining County road.
SWMP ADMINISTRATOR
Administrator /Operator:
Matthew Sprague
Vice President
Sprague Stone LLC
116 Sprague Avenue
Berthoud, CO 80513
(970) 481 -3779
b. Consultant:
Jason Miles, P.E.
Coffey Engineering & Surveying
4045 St. Cloud Drive
Suite 180
Loveland, CO 80538
(970) 622 -2095
Quarry mining and reclamation will be done in phases to minimize land disturbance. The mining permit
for this facility addresses the requirements for phasing of mining operations and reclamation of
disturbed areas. Additional controls include proposed entrance stabilization for both entrance locations
along County Road 27, and a stabilized materials handling area for control of excavated materials and
overburden.
NON- STORMWATER DISCHARGE COMPONENTS
Non - stormwater discharges will include water used for dust control and vehicle rinsing. Excess water
from these non - stormwater discharges will infiltrate the ground or ultimately sheetflow to drainage
channels that convey runoff to nearby Buckhorn Creek. It is not anticipated that groundwater or
underground springs will be encountered at depths relative to surface mining operations. In the event
that groundwater or underground springs are encountered, appropriate measures will be taken to
minimize the potential for pollution or sediment transport to the receiving waters, up to and including
the potential implementation of Best Management Practices to protect offsite properties and
downstream environmental elements.
OUTFALLS AND RECEIVING WATERS
The site drains to roadside ditches along County Road 27 and 32C, ultimately draining to Buckhorn Creek
as indicated in Figures 3 thru 8.
COFFEY
I Nbikl It i'jNG t, SURVFYING
4045 St. Cloud Drive, Suite 180
Loveland, CO 80538
[P] 970 - 622 -2095 [F] 970 - 461 -4469
