-fO' Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Shennan Street, #215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Kirkland Construction 1 11 Permit Application
ATTN: Peter Hays/Tony Waldron
Tuesday, February 24, 2015
Dear Mr. Hays and Mr. Waldron,
r1 -app -oo5s
I am a resident in Blue Valley Acres Subdivision Filing 1 in Grand County and am in opposition of the proposed 1 11
Permit Application filed by Kirkland Construction. My residence is in close proximity to this proposed mining site and I
have major environmental and safety concerns with this application.
Specifically, I understand that the soils report refers to the presence of ground water near the shale layer and I am
concerned as to how any potential contamination will affect the ground water.
Secondly, we are on well and septic system and have major concerns with the potential leakage of fuel, oils and greases
into the water aquifers that our systems rely on.
Thirdly, we are also concerned that this application allows the applicant to wash aggregate that will include fines and silts
which also have the potential of leaching and affecting our wells and septic systems.
Lastly, I am concerned about the general safety for our families and our quality of life with this proposed operation
permitted to operate as located.
Sincerely,
' Kendall Haney
