SubTerra, Inc. Peabody Twentymile Coal LLC 09/2712014
Foidel Creek Mine
Permit Revision for Longwall Mining in the Wolf Creek Seam - Subsidence Evaluation
3. In the case of Option (1), evaluating pre - placement of the Ballast. This involves assessing
whether pre - ballasting will result in unacceptable track gradients prior to and during
undermining.
This process has previously been implemented prior to each panel in the Wadge Seam undermining
the Energy Spur.
3.4.2. Possible Effects of Planned Remediation on Fish Creek and Its AVF
As shown on Drawings 2 and 4, the first area where remedial re- ballasting may impact Fish Creek or
its AVF is where the track crosses the rigid -yield pillar pair between 6 -Right and 7 -Right (at
approximately Station 416). The anticipated magnitude of required re- elevation at this Station will be
minimal due to the reduced subsidence over the pillars and extending the base of the ballast prism by
6 -feet on either side of the track should not be a problem at this location.
The second area of potential concern is where the track crosses over Fish Creek, approximately at
Station 401. The anticipated magnitude of required re- elevation at this Station is again expected to be
minimal and extending the base of the ballast prism by 6 -feet (at 2:1, H :V) on either side of the track is
not likely to require extension of the culvert(s) beneath the track.
8 PN: 2013 -26
