PERMIT #: M- 2005 -060
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: February 25, 2015
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Weld County 112c Ashbaugh Pit, DRMS permit M2005 -060.
The inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. The site is located in Weld County approximately one
mile north of the intersection of county road 80 and county road 115 on the east side of county road 115. This
inspection was unscheduled, however, the Ashbaugh Pit is located immediately east of the newly permitted
privately operated 112c GoodMiller #2 Pit (M2014 -070). Because DRMS was already across the road
conducting a pre -op inspection for the GoodMiller #2 site, it seemed reasonable to conduct an inspection of
the Ashbaugh site at the same time, especially considering the relatively remote location of the pit(s).
As can be seen in the attached photos, the site identification sign was present at the site entrance. It did not
appear that there has been very much, if any, recent excavation activity at the pit, however, there were
several large stockpiles of material on site awaiting use. The active area of the site does not appear to have
increased very much, if at all, from when the conversion to a 112c was approved in 2011. The buried gas line
corridor through the middle of the permit area is still clearly marked, and no mining activity has taken place in
the area of this buried pipeline or to the east of it.
No other items /concerns were noted during this inspection, and the attached photos generally depict the
condition of the permit area and surrounding vicinity.
Please note that the Construction Materials extraction rule states that reclamation of a permit must be
completed within 5 years of the end of mining. Based on this inspection, and the previous inspection, it would
appear that active mining has not taken place since prior to 2013.
Inspection Contact Address
Clay Kimmi
Weld County
1111 H St.
Greeley, CO 80632
