BROWNSTONE 2015 - STATE EXHIBIT - H
Wildlife in the area mainly consists of mule deer, raccoon, fox, and the occasional mountain lion. We
know of these mostly from tracks except for the deer which are generally unafraid of us and are a
common site.
No seasonal hunting occurs on this site or the surrounding area owned by the applicant Jim Striggow,
President of Stone Wholesale.
There are no endangered or threatened species in the area.
The effect on wildlife during the mining phase of the operation is inevitable. The reclaimed area will be
just as good if not better than the existing conditions for habitat and grazing. The only migratory wildlife
that use the area are raptors as they fly over. No raptor or other bird nests are in or around the site.
Human activity and noise will not increase with this amendment area. More noise will come from State
Highway 287 than the amendment quarry area. No blasting or crushing occurs in the Brownstone
Quarry.
