P.O. Box 1484
Idaho Springs, CO 80452
February 11, 2015
Mr. Michael Cunningham
Environmental Protection Specialist 7W0-'
RE: Phoenix Mine; DRMS File No. M- 1982 -075; Permitting for Tourist Mines
Dear Mr. Cunningham,
,ifEB 17 20,
tnnsion of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
Please consider this letter and attached diagram as the required Technical Revision for Reclamation permit
M- 1982 -075, for the Phoenix mine located in Clear Creek County.
The Phoenix mine is historic gold mine located in Clear Creek County, Colorado. It is both a permitted mine
holding permit M- 1982 -075 and is also used for guided tours for the general public. To protect the general
public that participates in tours of the mine from the inherent dangers that are posed by the ongoing prospecting
activities being conducted at the Phoenix mine, the following management policies have been adopted.
1) Conducted tours of the facility will only be allowed to enter areas of the mine that are specifically designed
for tours. On figure 1 of this report, this area within the permit boundary is shown with a faded red shading
for the surface plant.
2) The exploration and mineral concentration testing activities will only take place in areas of the facility that
area separate from the tour route during the hours when tours area being conducted.
3) Equipment access to underground exploration areas through the tour route will only take place during
hours when the tours are not being conducted. This includes the use of rail haulage equipment and the
transportation of supplies to the exploration areas.
4) No exploration activities will take place during tour hours that will impact the air quality of the tour route.
5) Underground access from the tour routes to exploration areas within the mine will be locked and no entry
signs posted during the hours that tours are taking place.
6) Before the start of normal tour operations, all underground openings used to access exploration areas of
the mine will be inspected for potential hazards by qualified individuals to insure that no hazards exist along
the tour route. Any hazardous conditions found will be corrected before tours are conducted.
It is the intent of the management of the Phoenix mine to both conduct safe tours of the mine while continuing
to complete limited exploration and mineral concentration testing activities.
If you have any questions about this, I may be contacted at (775) 385 -3638.
MSincerely, "i
1
David Mosch
Mining Engineer/ Co -owner of the Phoenix Mine
Enclosure
