Detailed Design <br />Design Parameters: <br />Type Coal Mine Waste Disposal Area <br />Capacity 1,000,000 cubic yards <br />Slopes No steeper than 2.5h:1 v slopes with one 15' wide terrace <br />Height 122 Feet <br />Terraces Slope 5% back towards the pile and 2 to 5% towards <br />collection ditches <br />Compaction 90 percent of the maximum dry density to prevent <br />spontaneous combustion and to provide the strength <br />required for stability of the refuse pile. Dry densities will be <br />determined in accordance with AASHTO T99 -74. <br />Haul Road The haul road will begin near the base of the coal preparation <br />plant and traverse south and east across Bowie Road (State <br />Highway 133B) near MM 13.2. The grade of the haul road will <br />vary between 2% and 13.5% as it declines in elevation from <br />the preparation plant to Gob Pile number 3. There is no place <br />on this road that exceeds a pitch grade of 15% and the overall <br />road grade is less than 10 %. <br />Diversion Ditches Flows from the 100 -year, 24 -hour storm event. Upper <br />diversion ditches are designed to flow into the east and west <br />Subdrainage <br />System <br />collection ditches and then into the sediment pond. <br />Alternate rock under -drain system as per Rule 4.10.3(5). <br />See page 5 Water Control Measures. <br />Volume XI <br />TR -84 - 3 - 02/14 <br />
