It is important to note that although one sampling date for dissolved silver has a concentration
greater than the stream limit, this does not reflect non - compliance with a discharge permit. A
discharge permit has not yet been issued for the Hock Hocking mine. Also, preliminary effluent
limitation (PEL) calculations have been conducted and reveal that the permit limitation for silver
would be approximately 0.00031 mg/L, bringing baseline conditions into compliance. However,
because the PEL calculations have not yet been submitted to or approved by the CDPHE they
cannot be used in comparison to baseline conditions.
Item 3- Per our discussions, we are submitting all of the adequacy responses to you and you
will supply these to CDPHE. A letter of release authorization to do this is provided under
separate cover.
References
[1] Water Quality Control Comission, "Regulation No. 38 Classifications and Numeric
Standards," Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Denver, 2014.
[2] United States Environmental Protection Agency, "TMDL Approvals," US EPA Region 8,
Denver, 2000.
[3] U.
