412 - 3ALLER-ROCK OUTCROP COMPLEX 15-45: S!o es i VIIIss -'1 Drvland <br />This complex consists of strongly sloping to steep soils on <br />"hogbacks ". It is about 50% Baller stony sandy loam and abo <br />outcrop. This soil consists of shallow, well drained soils. <br />are on uplands and are underlain by bedrock at a depth of 10 <br />Mean annual precipitation ranges from 15 -17 inches, mean ann <br />erature ranges from 470 to 440 F, and the frost -free season <br />135 -150 days. <br />dges and <br />30% Rock <br />These soils <br />0 inches. <br />1 air temp - <br />,nmes from <br />The Surface Layer is dark grayish brown stony sandy Loam abotqt 6 inches <br />thick. The subsurface layer is dark grayish brown very stony sandy laom <br />about 5 inches thick. Below this is hard sandstone. <br />Permeability is moderately rapid, and the available water cap city is <br />low. Reaction is neutral. These soils are used for native g asses. <br />Included with this complex in mapping is about 20 percent Car ero soils <br />and areas of soils that are similar to the Baller soil but th t has a clayey <br />subsoil. The Carnero series consists of moderately deep, wel drained <br />soils. Permeability is moderately,slow, and the available wa�er capacity <br />is medium. Reaction is neutral. <br />Runoff is medium to rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is moderate to <br />severe. Deep hullies are in some areas. <br />This soil is suited to native grasses. Scattered stands of p aderosa pine <br />are in a few areas. <br />
