oil
Safety (CDRMS) defined Numeric Protective Levels (NPL) and Early Warning Indicators
(EWI) are shown for each constituent at each well where these statistical values apply.
Comparison of the data values with the Early Warning Indicators (EWI) and the Numeric
Protective Levels (NPL) indicates one data point for total dissolved solids elevated above
the EWI at up- gradient alluvial well 28 -1 during the quarter. The sample, collected on
December 2, 2014, was reported with a value for total dissolved solids of 5,440 mg /L.
The calculated EWI for this constituent at this monitoring point is 5,407 mg /L, a difference
of 33 mg /L. The baseline mean value for total dissolved solids for this well is 3,958 mg /L
computed from 15 baseline samples. The maximum value for total dissolved solids
observed in the baseline program was 4,380 mg /L. The operational mean value
determined from 92 samples is 4,607 mg /L. The value of total dissolved solids at alluvial
well 28 -1 has exceeded the calculated EWI one time previously in the operational period
of record. These two points are summarized in the following table along with their
respective sample dates:
Sample Date
Alluvial Well 28 -1
Total Dissolved Solids (mg /L)
Early Warning Indicator
5,407
June3, 2013
5,460
December 2, 2014
5,440
The seasonal water level variation does not consistently correlate with fluctuations in the
concentration of total dissolved solids. The historical record of total dissolved solids
samples versus the ground water elevation at alluvial well 28 -1 is provided in the
following hydrograph:
