Average 300 days of sunshine each year. Average annual precipitation <br />in the high mountainous regions generally exceeds 40 inches per year Leadville average rainfall <br />precipitation is approximately 12 inches whereas snow fall averages over 140 inches. Average <br />annual lake evaporation for Leadville ranges between 35 and 45 inches a year. <br />Leadville has an alpine subarctic climate with cold winters and mild summers, bordering on a <br />cold semi-arid climate (See Table K -1). The average January temperatures are a maximum of <br />maximum of 72.2 IF (22.3 'Q and a minimum of 37.8 IF (3.2 *Q. There are averages of 278 <br />days annually with freezing temperatures, which can occur in any month of the year. The record <br />high temperature was 86 IF (30 "Q on June 23, 1954. The record low temperature was —38 OF <br />(-39 'Q on February 21, 1995. <br />Average annual precipitation is 12.19 inches (3 10 mm). The wettest year was 1957 with 22.14 <br />inches (562 mm) and the driest year was 1994 with 8.81 inches (224 mm). The most <br />precipitation in one month was 4.83 inches (123 mm) in January 1996. The most precipitation in <br />24 hours was 2.10 inches (53 mm) on December 24, 1983. Average annual snowfall is 142.7 <br />inches (3,620 mm). The most snowfall in one year was 247.9 inches (6,300 mm) in 1996.
