Leigh Simmons
February 9, 2015 Page 2
Weed control in 2014 was conducted with bi-weekly inspections of reclamation
and disturbed areas for noxious weeds. The noxious weeds include Canadian
Thistle and Houndstounge. To control the noxious weeds Tordon was used.
Tordon is the product name of a herbacide made by Dow Chemicals. The
active ingredient in Tordon is Pictoram, which is an appropriate choice to
treate Canadian Thistle and Houndstounge. Tordon should not be used near or
under trees where soils have rapid permeability. It should also not be used
where water levels are high because of its high persistance and mobility.
Inspections of rectamed and disturbed areas for erosional damage was
conducted on the same bi-weekly scheduel as the inspections for weeds. There
were no areas identified with erosion.
This concludes the review of the 2014 Annual Reclamation Report for the New
Elk Mine.
2
555 Street Address, Room 555, Denver, CO 55555-5555 P 555.555.5555
