Other water information such as water rights, consumptive use, etc. is given in Exhibit G - Water
Information.
1.3 Access Roads
Five existing accesses are present on the site, all of which were present in 1975. These are accesses 1, 2,
3, 6 and 7 as shown on Map C -2. Accesses 1, 2 and 3 enter Highway 9 south of the town of Alma. Access
6 leaves the permit area in the northwest corner and eventually joins with Highway 9 north of Alma.
Accesses 1 and 6 have been active up to 2003 and used by both the gold mining and the gravel mining
operations. As gold mining progresses to the south, Access 1 will be disrupted to the main part of the
site and Access 4 will be installed. As mining continues south, Accesses 2, 3 and 5 may be used. Access
5 enters the existing private road at the south end of the permit area which then immediately enters
Highway 9. Access 7 is an old access immediately west of the town of Alma. There was a large metal
culvert in place to cross the River at this location, but the road above this culvert has been washed out
prior to 1977. This access has not been used in years. No accel /decel lanes have been required at any of
the existing accesses. Since the gold mining operation does not produce much off site traffic and since
the gravel mining operation is not planning to in- crease production over the past 3 -4 year period, no new
accel /decel lanes are needed for access.
All access roads are compacted dirt or gravel and approximately 30' in width. Water or magnesium
chloride will be applied to all roads (primarily by the gravel mine personnel) to keep dust down while
mine vehicle traffic occurs. The Ducommun Business Trust agrees to provide one usable access to the
Gumaer property during mine operation and after reclamation. During mining, the access location may
move, but it will always be provided.
Alma Place Mine 01/15 22
