PRE - MINING AND MINING PLAN MAPS OF AFFECTED LANDS
EXHIBIT C
Since extensive mining has occurred on the site since 1872, a pre - mining contour map of the site is
unavailable, however, the approximate contour can be seen from looking at the contour of the
surrounding area on Map C -1. The mining area basically sloped from the South Platte River uphill to
the east similar to the grades shown north and south of the existing disturbance.
Map C -1 shows the soils, vegetation, and pre - permit (1979) land uses of the site.
The original contours outside the permit area and the Map C -2 contours were based on an innovative
technique by Enerquest Company of Denver known as an airplane mounted laser. Enerquest was
commissioned to do the mapping for the Ducommun Trust (earlier permittee) and the site was flown in
August of 2001. The method uses the laser to bounce off the ground surface and back to the airplane,
resulting in extremely accurate mapping over a large area as well as orthographic photos which overlap
the mapping data.
Alma Place Mine 01/15 7
