2. Reclamation Activities
a. Site Preparation
Site preparation will implement BMPs where soils or mined material are prone to erosion
adjacent to stream channels. Other activities may include installing temporary water crossings,
and establishing rock storage and equipment staging areas within the mine disturbed areas.
b. Site Grading
Disturbed areas including base of operation, stream channels and roads will be reclaimed to the
approximate configuration illustrated on Figure F-2 To the extent practicable slopes of 2.5 (H)
to 1 (V)will be established. Where possible, south facing mine disturbed slopes will be graded
equal to or less than 3(H):1(V). If necessary, a rock rake will be used to prepare the disturbed
graded surface for seeding. Exhibit E Attachment B provides representative BMPs to be used
during mining and reclamation activities. Grading and related reclamation activities will be
conducted annually. Gold Basin will reclaim mine disturbed areas in approximately equal areas
disturbed by annual mining. Annual mine disturbance is anticipated to be less than l an acres.
c. Scarifying
Following site grading, the area will be scarified using a disc harrow.
d. Topsoil
Because topsoil is thin(less than 6 Inches), historical and current mining activities will not salvage
topsoil. Alternative native growth materials will be used.
e. Mulch
Mulch will be applied at a rate of 1-2 tons per acre and crimped or tacked in place.
f. Irrigation
Irrigation will not be used during site reclamation activities.
g. Fertilizes
Fertilizers will not be used during site reclamation activities.
h. Revegetation
As necessary, mine reclaimed slopes steeper than 3(H):1(V)will be stabilized using BMPs..
Where possible,to enhance revegetation success, south facing slopes will be graded flatter
QO
r—1
December 28,2014
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
Gold Basin Mine,Inc.
Gold Basin Mine
Granite,Colorado
