Gold Basin Mine, Inc. <br /> Gold Basin Mine-Chaffee County <br /> Granite, Colorado <br /> Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety <br /> 112 Permit Application <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> The Gold Basin Mine is located in Chaffee County approximately 7.5 miles west <br /> of Granite, Colorado. (Exhibit B, Figure B-1) The physical address is 26020 <br /> County Road 398, Granite, Colorado 81228. The historical placer mine was <br /> opened in the early 1900's and closed during the Second World War on Cache <br /> Creek a tributary to the Arkansas River. Approximately 15 acres in or adjacent <br /> to Gold Basin Mine was disturbed by past mining activities. The mine was re- <br /> activated in 1992 pursuant to a permit from the Colorado Division of <br /> Reclamation Mining and Safety and Chaffee County Planning Department. The <br /> County permit was renewed and approved May 6, 2014. The mine is <br /> characterized as a "recreational" mine where a couple of miners work on the <br /> property during the summer months(June-September). <br /> The placer Gold Basin Mine, formerly owned by Mr. James Van E14 and is <br /> currently owned by Gold Basin, LLC with the intension of continuing <br /> "recreational" surface mining utilizing the methods employed by the former <br /> owner. <br /> Project Overview <br /> The mine has a 110 CDRMS mine permit (M-1992-045) and over the years the <br /> permit has been periodically amended to accommodate changes to the operating <br /> plan. The attached 112 CDMRS pen-nit will allow mining and associated <br /> activities within a 32.3 acre permit boundary. Mining occurs on patented claims <br /> within a 160.1 acre land parcel. The site is located in the SEI/4, of Section 5, <br /> Township 12, and Range 80 West at an elevation of 12,100 feet. <br /> The site exhibits average cool summers (40-73 degrees F) and average cold <br /> winters (4 to 32 degrees F) to the area. Winter temperatures frequently drop to <br /> -25 and -30 V (United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) zone 4). <br /> Average monthly precipitation ranges from 1.1 to 2.2 inches. Average annual <br /> precipitation is estimated to be 15 to 16 inches. . Surrounded by moisture- <br /> robbing mountains, the climate is semiarid, though deep winter snows are (U <br /> tw <br /> common. Snow fall averages between 110-120 inches.
