RE: Pit 29, Permit No. M- 1980 -183_ J Operator: Brannan Sand and Gravel Contact: Brannan Sand and Gravel - 303 - 534 -1231 Section 35, Twp 1 South, Rng 67 West, 6th P.M., Adams County CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL Brannan Sand and Gravel requested an amendment to the application for Pit 29, Permit no. M1980 -183. The purpose of this amendment is to expand the permitted boundary from 178.42 acres to a total of 179.52 acres and to incorporate a pump house and the appurtenant inlet /outlet structure and pipeline to the river. The post mining uses will not change except for the operation of the pump house. The pump house and pipeline are being used to move water from the South Platte River for water storage and release purposes at the South Cell of Pit 29 and to release accumulated storm water from the North Cell of Pit 29. Upon completion of mining in the north cell, it is anticipated that the pump house will be moved to its permanent location in the north cell. This office has no objection to the request, provided water in the South Cell is stored only in priority with the prior approval of the water commissioner or under a decree storage right. In addition, if stormwater runoff is intercepted in the North Cell and is not diverted or captured in priority, it must be released to the stream system within 72 hours, which may require a discharge permit from CDPHE -WQCD. Otherwise, the operator will need to make replacements for evaporation.
