Tests <br />conducted on Perlite have not identified crystalline silica as being present above the detection limit (0.05 %). <br />Although there are no published reports of adverse health effects from exposure to perlite dust, dust levels should <br />be maintained below the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit for perlite and respirators used when airborne dust is <br />present. <br />CARCINOGENICITY: Not listed as a carcinogen by IARC, NTP, or OSHA. <br />EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES: <br />SKIN: Flush skin well with water. If irritation occurs, see physician. <br />EYE: Immediately flush eyes for 15 minutes with plenty of water. Call a physician. <br />INHALATION: Move to fresh air. If respiratory difficulties occur, give oxygen and see physician. <br />INGESTION: Drink several glasses of water and consult a physician. <br />VII HANDLING AND USE PRECAUTIONS: <br />SPILL/LEAK PROCEDURE: Vacuum clean spillage. If sweeping is necessary, use a dust suppressant. Avoid <br />creating dust. <br />WASTE DISPOSAL METHODS: Under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), it is the responsibility <br />of the user to determine whether a substance should be classified as a hazardous waste at the time of disposal. <br />This is due to the fact that product use, transformation, synthesis, mixtures, etc. may change the nature of the <br />product. Dispose of waste in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. <br />HANDLING and STORAGE PRECAUTIONS: Keep contains closed when not in use.
