Using an average of 130,000 tons per year of total aggregate /asphalt or concrete hauled from the site
in a year, the following traffic calculations are given:
130,000 t /10 months activity = 13,000 tons per month.
13,000 tons /month /24 days per month = 541 tons /day
Since 60% of tonnage will use 15 ton trucks and 40% will use 24 tons, the average is 18.6 tons.
Therefore, at 541 tons per day, this is 541/18.6 = 29 loads per day over 12 hours.
This is 2.4 loaded trucks per hour, and 2.4 empty trucks will return per hour. Other traffic such as
employees, sales, fuel, etc. will be estimated at 1.0 vehicles per hour, therefore the total traffic per
hour is expected to be 2.4 x 2 = 4.8 +1 (other traffic) = 5.8 vehicles per hour rounded to 6 vehicles
per hour. A maximum peak flow would be 7 -8 vehicles per hour.
This is well within CDOT limits for requirements of accel or decel lanes from the operation, even if
one entrance was used. Since this traffic will be equally split between Access #6 to the north and
either Access #1 or Access #4 to the south, the peak hourly traffic at either entrance would be 3 -4
vehicles per hour.
8) The projected final use of the site (see reclamation plan) is a combined use of commercial,
residential and open space with ponds. The reclamation plan calls for much smoother surfaces,
placement of topsoil or substitute topsoil on all areas, seeding and tree sapling planting. The Trust
also plans to work with the local office of the CDOW to discuss any ways that the final site could
be enhanced for wildlife. The commercial portion is planned along Highway 9 (which is also
shown on the existing town master plan) and residential is planned for the area further east of the
Highway. Wetland areas will be planned along the ponds to be left as part of the plan. It is
believed that the nature of this plan will make the site much better for the town and the Operator.
Alma Placer 9/12 41
