2.0 Sand and Gravel Mine Plan
2.1 General Plan Gravel Minina
Prior to the 2003 amendment, the gravel mining was limited to a 10 acre area shown on Map C -2,
which was part of the 110 operation M- 2000 -063. This operation is absorbed into the Alma Placer
112 permit as a result of the April 2003 amendment. Gravel mining in the 110 permit consisted of
excavating piles of gravel that had been already washed by pre -law gold mining. The gravel was
loaded into a portable crushing plant, portable wash plant and portable screen plant for making
various size materials for sale on site. Products ranged from pit run gravel to various road base
products, washed sand and boulders. This operation was successful and more room is needed to
continue operating. For this reason, the 2003 amendment allows a much larger area for sand and
gravel mining and it is hoped that future activity will also clean up old waste piles which have been
an eyesore for many years north of the existing gold prep plant. It is also likely that the gravel
operation will remove all piles of waste gravel from the gold prep plant for sale or for crushing and
screening into other products.
As of April 2003, it is expected that the area of the 110 permit will provide another 6 months of sand
and gravel mining. At that time, the facilities will move to the new main extraction area north of the
gold prep plant.
The 3 plants (crushing, screening, washing) will then be located as shown on Map C -2.
Approximately 8 -9 acres will be used for the plants as well as stockpile areas, in addition to the
stockpiles designated for the gold plant described in the previous section.
Although the plan on the following pages shows the potential use of an asphalt plant on site, the
permittee hereby states that no asphalt plant will be placed on site at any time without written per-
mission from the town of Alma. This approval will be supplied to DRMS prior to any placement of
the plant on site.
Alma Placer 1/15 29
