Section 10 .0 Water Information, Rights and Augmentation
Details of the water use on site are presented in Exhibit G - Water Information. The property owned
by Playfair Land CO. LLC and leased to Golden Cross Aggregate has two water rights:
1) 2.0 cfs from Sacramento Creek for placer mine purposes only, dating back to the 1860's. This right
can be used from mid May to mid September of any given year.
2) 2.13 acre feet of Cottage Grove Reservoir water, which is an augmentation right. This can be used
to offset consumptive uses on the property.
Both of these rights are proposed to be used to offset consumptive uses of the operation.
The mine will encounter water in the excavation and will expose groundwater, in addition to other
consumptive uses associated with the mining operation, such as road dust control, sluicing, gravel
sales, crushing and screening dust control. These consumptive uses have been calculated in detail in
the Substitute Water Supply Plan, which has been submitted to the Division of Water Resources and
is currently (as of February 2013) under review by them. This SWSP has been submitted with a gravel
well permit application with the State Engineer's office.
Water is available to the operator from the approved Point of Diversion on Sacramento Creek, as
shown on Map C -2 and also the water pump extraction hole also shown on the same map. A future
Point of Diversion may be possible on the Middle Fork of the South Platte but this has not yet been
approved yet, as of the end of 2014.
All water rights data, consumptive use calculations and offset from the existing water rights are pre-
sented in the SWSP, which is attached in Appendix B.
Gloria Z Mine TR -03 2015 24
