Final Technical Report, 2014 Monitoring Well Rehabilitation Program Bowie Mine 17
3.0 LABORATORY WATER QUALITY DATA
3.1 Tri- Linear Diagrams
The groundwater in the wells can be classified according to the types and proportions of the
major cations and anions present in the water. Plots of the major cations and anions based on the
most recent water quality data (Bowie, 2014b) are shown on the tri- linear diagrams (Piper, 1944)
in Figure 2.
Using this water classification scheme, the pre - rehabilitation groundwater in well 2010 -1SS did
not have a dominant type, but the post - rehabilitation type was sodium bicarbonate, indicating
significant changes occurred as a result of the rehabilitation efforts. The groundwater in the
abandoned well BRL- IP- 00 -67 -D -BLW is sodium bicarbonate type. The groundwater in
replacement well BRL- IP- 14 -67 -D -BLW is sodium bicarbonate type. The groundwater in well
CWI -DH -60 In October 2014 is sodium bicarbonate type.
Figure 2.
