The Bowie No. 1 Mine also mined under the Pitkin Mesa Pipeline /Aqueduct at overburden depths ranging from 300 to 675 feet with no detrimental effects to the pipeline. Sheep Corral spring and pond SP -34 -11 were undermined by the D -Seam during October 2003. The overburden at this location is slightly over 1,000 feet. There was no apparent damage to the spring and pond based on monitoring results since the spring and pond were undermined. The spring and pond were not mined under by the B -Seam. Pond and spring 20 were undermined by the B -Seam during May 2013. The overburden at this location is 1,250 feet.
