AN,COLORADO
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
January 26, 2015
William A. Bear
Bowie Resources, LLC
P.O. Box 483
Paonia, CO 81428
Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C- 1996 -083)
Midterm Review No. 4 (MT -4)
Revised Reclamation Cost Estimate
Dear Mr. Bear:
The Division has completed a revised reclamation cost estimate for the Bowie No. 2 Mine; the estimate is
attached. The reclamation cost estimate was initially conducted in conjunction with the midterm review of the
permit application package conducted by the Division on October 3, 2014. Bowie Resources, LLC (BRL)
commented on the October 3, 2014 reclamation cost estimate in emails dated November 21, 2014 and January
6, 2015, and provided additional information pertaining to reclamation costs in the application materials for
Technical Revision No. 96 (TR -96) and Minor Revision No. 168 (MR -168). A summary of revisions to the October
3, 2014 estimate follows.
1. The reclamation cost estimate includes all pending and approved revisions to the permit through TR -97 and
MR-172.
2. BRL provided detailed information for all boreholes, wells, shafts, and underground openings with the MR-
168 and TR -96 application materials, as well as abandonment reports for several of the underground
openings. The reclamation costs for all underground openings, as well as associated roads and drill pads
have been updated accordingly.
Boreholes DH -67blw and CWI- DH -58A, both of which were relocated, will appear to be duplicated in the
estimate. The costs to seal the original location remain in the estimate until bond release has been granted
for sealing the original hole.
3. Refuse material rehandling volumes have been revised to reflect currently approved plans at the refuse
disposal areas, as noted in BRL's November 21, 2014 email. The duplicate task (No. 35) for spreading
uncompacted refuse at Gob Pile #2 has been removed, and the volume of Task No. 40 has been reduced.
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http: / /mining.state.co.us I
John W.
